About a 45 minute drive out of Byron is Nick's aunt Carol's property, Fern Gully (like from the movie!). We spent a few days in this idyllic rainforest farmland catching our breaths and talking philosophy and spirituality.  Jules and B, the original owners of the property (B created Fern Gully) still live there and cooked us delicious vegetarian feasts every night.

The cottage we stayed in was beautifully decorated, had a wood-burning fireplace, and was haunted by a ghost named Kieth. It also required some creative cellphone positioning to get the wifi hotspot to work.

We took daily walks down the country road. This is the view from the top of the property.

We made some goat friends along the way.

Our only outings off the property were to the farmer's market in Mullumbimby and to the cute shops in Bangalow.
