It was overcast and threatening to rain the day we left Hoi An. The drive to Da Nang was super windy and trafficky and generally unpleasant, so we weren't sure whether it was wise to attempt the Hai Van Pass.

After a bit of waffling, we decided on the adventure line, and we were glad we did.

The rain stopped long enough for us to be able to enjoy the stunning vistas. Around every turn there was some new jaw-dropping view.

The rest of the drive after the pass was decidedly more rainy and more miserable. We were soaking wet when we arrived in Hue, only to find our room wouldn't be ready for another couple hours. The drive in the rain didn't help my cough (acquired during our epic rain drive to escape of Buon Ho), but a couple of cocktails at the local backpacker bar did wonders to lift our spirits!
