Street Food!

Street Food!

Tonight we went on an amazing 5-hour private street food tour with Back of the Bike Tours. Our guide, chef Frederick Wilson, took us to 9 different street food vendors across Ho Chi Minh City to try a broad range of southern Vietnamese dishes.

The two young college students who drove us around on the backs of their motorbikes were fluent in English and they taught us about Vietnamese history and culture in between stops.

We got out of the tourist areas and saw parts of town where locals live and eat.

We drank home-brewed rice wine that was made and sold by a street vendor. Those water bottles are full of potent moonshine-esque liquor!

We ate several varieties of noodle soup, grilled frog, grilled chicken's feet, pork skewers, and wrapped our own spring rolls.

They even let Nick cook some of the rice pancakes.

The weirdest thing I ate was Hot Vit Lon (aka, fetal duck egg...). Surprisingly less disgusting than it sounds.
