North Island Ferry

We'd heard about a way to rent a car for free doing something called a "rental car relocation". We were granted 5 free days to take a car from Christchurch to Auckland and a discounted rate for any additional days. The car was a complete beater (you get what you pay for, I guess), and we were completely convinced that we were unwitting drug mules since the car reeked of weed. No matter, we jumped in the car Tuesday and drove up to Picton where the interisland ferry runs.

It was a little chilly out, but the ferry was super easy to navigate and surprisingly luxurious.

The ferry dropped us in Wellington where we met up with an old friend, had great drinks at Hippopotamus and CGR Merchant & Co., and ate an amazing seafood dinner at Ortega.
